Focus on this week's Carnival runners
03/02/2010
FOUR Rabbah-managed horses will be in action at the Dubai International Racing Carnival over the next two days headed by Sultan Ali’s Ahla Wasahl.
The David Simcock-trained four-year old has been declared to contest the Cape Verdi sponsored by Al Tayer Motors, a Group Three over a mile on Friday.
Connections will be hoping the daughter of Dubai Destination can reproduce her form from last autumn when she landed a hot Listed race at Ascot.
Eleven have been declared for the contest run on the turf and William Buick has been booked to ride.
On Thursday Rabbah will be doubly represented in the 7f Billet Trophy with Al Khaleej and Lovelace set to line up.
The former is a lightly-raced six-year old owned by Mayoof Sultan.
He only had two starts last year, but showed himself to be potentially smart in 2008. Ed Dunlop’s charge has been allocated stall seven and will be ridden by Ted Durcan.
Among Al Khaleej’s 11 rivals will be the Mark Johnston-trained Lovelace who made his 2010 return last week.
Connections of Hamad Suhail’s horse are hopeful that he has come on for that run and can put up a big performance in the hands of Kieren Fallon.
On the same card Saeed Suhail’s Awinnersgame lines up in the 6f Innovation Trophy on the Tapeta.
The Jeremy Noseda-trained four-year-old has been a solid citizen over the past two seasons and took a conditions event at Yarmouth on his penultimate start last season.
His trainer is happy with his preparation and is hopeful for another bold showing from him.
He said: “He has settled in well but probably is not very well handicapped. He is very game and consistent and I’m sure he’ll put up a solid effort. Ryan Moore rides."
