The son of Shamardal was given a good ride by jockey Neil Callan, who always had the 10-11 favourite close to the pace after breaking well from an unfavourable wide draw.

Azlak travelled strongly throughout before quickening up around the final bend to soon put distance between himself and his nearest rival.

All Callan had to do late on was to keep his mount up to his work and Azlak eventually came home unchallenged with six lengths to spare.
